Piece of Pie Ala mode

Meet our friends and get a sneak peek at their new book coming out here shortly. Brenda and Bonnie of Pie Plate patterns. The quilt with Bonnie sneaking a peak out to the side (with the brown curved piecing) is the quilt that will be on the front cover. If you want to see it up close and personal, it is in our front window at the store. We are soo excited to have it on display!!!!! And I would tell you the name of each quilt here, but the paper that I wrote them down on ----- is LOST!!!!! and I can't remember......it's the half-hemizers..... Sorry. It will be a surprise to all of us what the names are.

However, I can tell the fabric line of most of them. The fabric line, well not the dark brown one, is Serenity -- bought at our store. I sure would like to know the name of the dark chocolate fabric though...

This fabric line is Cotton Blossoms. We don't have this.

Here Bonnie on the left and Brenda on the right are holding up two different quilts --- that are the SAME!!! Just the applique design is different ..... and well the fabrics too of course.

And darn it all if that half-hemirzers isn't turning into "more-often-then-not-hemizers (just don't correct me on my spelling when I am making up words). I have drawn a blank on the fabric lines. That is so sad for me to admit that, I will try better.
Happy Stitchin and may you not have to de-stitch. ;)

Come Buggy with US!

Come Buggy with Us ended up being such a huge success for us, we had to do it a second night. Have you seen the Hearts and Star pattern?? well this is what we did - its an older pattern. Here are a few pictures of some of the gals.

I had to take a picture of this -- this is what happens when you accidently put TWO blades in your rotary cutter. It's not pretty! But it made me smile.

Some finished blocks..... Can't wait to see the whole quilt finished.

Round Robin

Here we all are meeting to swap our "Star and Stripe" blocks.
Do we look confused yet?? Just wait it will make sense..... PROMISE!

Yup.... still confused

Kinda scary when even the teacher looks just as confused as us. Not really! JK ;) She teaches for a paycheck and quilts for love.
Here are all of our blocks swapped and laid out. Opps can you see a few mistakes???? OK I will help you---- if you look closely some of the long up and down rectangle blocks were actually made to be horizontal rectangle blocks. Gonna have to do some rearranging.
So this little over-achiever has hers all sewn together. The first one that I have seen. Isn't it beautiful?!?!?!?!!!! And she even figured out how to get the horizontal rectangle blocks to fit in. (You would never have known there were issues if I hadn't opened my big mouth and told you.) Can you find them???
Here is a picture of our first Round Robin, Flowers in my Garden.

Round Robin Night

I can't wait for tonight! It will be almost like Christmas! Our round robin class is getting together and showing off our blocks and exchanging them. It is so much fun to see what everyone does. Tammy German, another pattern designer that is local, has done the math and figured out how many blocks need to be made and what sizes. Truly a daunting task if you ask me, but no one asked........ Our version of a round robin is done so that everyone that contributes to the quilt gets to have a quilt. So for this go around our theme was Star and Stripes. We all had to make a Star block and a Strip block (or squares). Did I mention that we had to make 22 of each!!!! For those that don't procrastinate this is NO problem, for those that do, well lets just say they are a little sleep deprived. OK. ALOT sleep deprived! However, they are done, done, done! I will try to remember to take pictures tonight so that I can share the fun with all of you later on. I will also take a picture of the the first round robin that we did -- Flowers in My Garden. It turned out so cute! If we had a pattern of ALL the blocks, I could have sold atleast 12 in the past week. Alas, I only have the sizes of the blocks.. ;(

So be on the lookout for our next Round Robin......It will be a "Winter" something or other. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. We are having a hard time deciding... If we choose your idea, you will receive a present from us. How's that for a wee bit of bribery???

Happy stitchin

Take 2

So apparently I am seriously computer challenged. I tried to set up the blog for the store and I thought that I did a really good job. Yeah me! NOT!!! So my dear daughter came over and tried to fix the issues that I couldn't get to work. She couldn't fix it either, so I don't feel sooo bad, and we deleted the entire first one. The problem with that is -- we had to come up with a new blog name. Yes, that is why it is soooooo long. Just think of all the exercise your fingers will be getting. :)

Come in the store and check out our FREE class fee classes! We have the "Skinnies" (pic to come at a later time -- when I get it figured out). They are small wall hangings and are designed by Crazy Old Ladies. Marg and Emily are a couple of local gals that design patterns and entertain us greatly. You can visit them on their own blog -- www.crazyoldladiesquilts.blogspot.com If you scroll down the page you can see the Skinnies. We will be doing the carrot the last week of March. The beehive will be in April and the birdhouse the following month. Aaaaa do you see a pattern here?????

Come "BUGGY" with us! Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew a Buggy Barn Pattern and it just didn't make sense? Well now you can learn their technique in a fun friendly environment. We are picking a specific patten to do for the class. This time it will be "Hearts N Stars". Oh! The best part about the Buggy Patterns -- There are NO points to match. No seams to match. Absolutely Nothing MATCHES!!!! How great is that? They truly look more complicated than they really are. So come check it out. We are thinking that we may do a different Buggy pattern every other month or so, so if you happen to miss out on this one, there will be more...

Come in the store and let us know that you read our blog for a special little prize.

Happy Sewing.......
